Fresno is redeeming itself for this summer in a big way this month. Vivid blue skies and clear air made their way into the valley in time for the weekend, so Danny and I made a visit to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo.
The animals were full of energy; baby orangutans were playing peek-a-boo, tiger cubs were pouncing and we even stumbled onto a turtle parade. November is prime time for less crowds and more fun at the Fresno zoo.
At just $7/adult and $3.50/child, this is one of the best local destinations for entertaining out of town guests of any age. Some other local sites include the Forestiere Underground Gardens, the Japanese Garden at Woodward Park and the Discovery Center (for kids).
Typically, when family visits from out of state, I get overwhelmed with an inferiority complex. Fresno just doesn’t offer the sunset beach photo ops or celebrity sitings that my midwestern kin have been programed to expect from California…
